The Hedge Man specialises in hedge laying and hedge restoration, and is a member of the National Hedgelaying Society.

Hedgerows are a very prominent, functional and important landscape feature in the UK and The Hedge Man will help to keep it that way by providing services to maintain them at their optimum potential for landscape and environmental value.

We work with a broad range of clients including the agricultural sector, landowners and residential property owners, development sites, charitable bodies – in fact anyone with hedges to maintain in good condition and in perpetuity. New work often features as Case Studies on the site - these will give useful information on the kind of work undertaken, and 'before' and 'after' photographs and comment. The scrolling Latest News also aims to keep casual visitors to the site, and serious enquirers, informed of current activities.

UPDATE  MARCH 2010

Now into the last month this season for hedge laying/restoration and although, in the York area, it is 'wet underfoot' work continues.

Work is almost completed on boundary hedge restoration for a client in the York/Selby area, although this has been delayed by very wet weather. The consultancy contract with Defra; 'Hedgerow Management: A survey of Land Managers' and Contractors' Practices and Attitudes' continues, with face-to-face interviews with farmers, and hedgerow surveys pending in April and May.

A new, large, hedge restoration project in the York area is under consideration, along with hedge planting jobs as soon as ground conditions permit.
